Lately, we’ve been having ghastly humid days. Add another 15 degrees to that and you have a restaurant kitchen, ovens and all, that is a monster in need of taming. I work, I melt, I hydrate. And so it goes, this season of cooking. This afternoon the skies opened and relief poured down on my head. A head that was fairly booming with migraine. Relief also came in the form of late lunch at a waterfront café—oh lemonade and Advil, how I adore you! Children who unloaded groceries and a chaser of tea with this summer’s first cherries put the afternoon right back on the rails. Saving the vodka for later …
