my lately

Finding a new, replenishing rhythm to these days off work. Fatigue dissolving slowly, surely. Tea at sunrise. Breakfast on the porch. Paper lanterns in the summer breeze. Savoring the last chapter of a book, not yet ready to say goodbye. Picnics with my boy who still tells me his stories. Thrift store jaunts, tiny slips of treasures to bring home. Creating art and rediscovering the place within where that urge lies. Garden talks with a cherished, noble friend. Salad days. Cool, still nights. Discovering a poem that left me awash in salty, lonesome tears. A heart filled with gratitude for unexpected kindnesses, the familiar love of my kinfolk, and the smallest of small things. The majesty of a full moon through dappled curtains. The living room drenched with the scent of fresh-cut flowers. Striving to be here and alive in the present moment, as the faint but unmistakable signs of change tug at my heart. Parting the curtains, watching the clouds tumble and trail in the new morning light, head resting softly against the pillow. Falling into sleep deep into the night, my heart at ease, the alarm left untouched.

Tell me about your lately.
