The more it snows, the more we try to outwit the cold. Or at least feebly attempt to embrace it. I thought about grocery shopping today. I even thought about banking and visiting a friend … Then I stepped outside into the swirling snow, and decided that purchasing toilet paper and coffee beans were all that was going to happen.
En route to the store, I passed by our neighbourhood Little Free Library—a birdhouse-style box, mounted on a pole in the front garden. Just before Christmas when Number Four and I stopped by, he spied a copy of Nigella Christmas. I squealed. It was the perfect surprise. Tomorrow I’ll take a book we’re ready to part with and place it inside for someone else to happen upon.
Until then, it’s blankets, soup, hot choco and even hotter baths …
