On November 1, as if cued by retail central, Christmas decorations appeared across town. Number two and I landed at the foot of an escalator and stumbled straight into a damn Christmas tree. It was too much. In my local coffee shop, traces of Hallowe’en were quickly eliminated as boxes of Christmas decorations lay stacked against the wall. I don’t know about you, but I need more time before warming up to this whole retail-dictated change of season.

Meanwhile, I’m staying rooted in the present. In this part of the world, that means autumn. And I love it. No theme music. No heavy boots. Just another reason to drink more tea and gasp at how clever nature is …
