warm bowls | cold days

I love winter food that’s served in a bowl. The way the bowl nestles perfectly in cupped hands, the warmth that fills them. The feeling of having everything you need at that moment, all in one bowl. Whether it’s carrying it to the table to eat or pulling up a blanket on the couch, that feeling of comfort is irreplaceable. These are some of my recent favourites. It’s the small, happy things that get me through winter…

Oatmeal with blueberries, walnuts, raisins, hemp seeds and maple syrup

Oatmeal with apples, cinnamon, fresh cranberries, walnuts, pecans and raisins

Chili with beef, white & red kidney beans, black beans, tomatoes, red peppers, chipotle and corn

Quinoa pasta with sun dried & fresh tomatoes, black & green olives, zucchini, arugula, rosemary and feta

Brown rice and kale, roasted sweet potato, carrots & beets, avocado, sprouts, pepitas with tahini-peanut dressing

Carrot-ginger soup with lemon grass and coconut milk

And a couple of last winter’s favs:

Quinoa bowl:  marinated tempeh, roasted sweet potato, tomatoes, peppers, cukes, grated carrot, toasted seeds with tahini-wasabi dressing

Brown rice bowl: snow peas, sweet peppers, avocado, scallions, red chillies, toasted almonds & seeds with tamari-lime dressing
