Happy Mother’s Day!
As any mum of older children will tell you, convening your brood takes some decent amount of planning (translation: text marathoning). I hopped on a train and a bus to see my mighty Number Three on Saturday. We filled our bellies with a vegie lunch and squeezed in as much chat as we could. And the other three were corralled (albeit happily) on Sunday. We spent time at Evergreen Brickworks, where we hooked up with the Beltline Trail and ended up back at my place for food and hangouts. And when they all dispersed, I set out on a solo walk to think about a trip that’s in the planning stages! On the way home I gathered spring blooms I spied overhanging a fence in an abandoned lot. That’s the urban scavenger in me coming clean. Empty lots, overhanging abundance and dense, wild-growing areas are all on the ok list. But no trespassing, no depleting, no denuding, no greed. And I always say, “thank you” for the gift. Seriously. Out loud.
So from me and the wilds: Happy Mother’s Day!
